After what has been another highly challenging year for businesses throughout New Zealand, a strong field of finalists in The David Awards 2022 have been announced.
“2022 delivered another outstanding crop of David's, dominated by solid performers,” says Judge Glenn Baker. “ In the end the businesses which stood out demonstrated outstanding discipline and achievement across marketing, financials, values and management. Above all, they looked adversity in the eye and slayed it!”
The consistent high standard of entry made judging a challenge too, says Glenn, but the judges were impressed by solid balance sheet performances and consistent business growth. “To perform so strongly in what was another tumultuous year under Covid restrictions demonstrated the strength, determination and marketing nous of these business owners,” he adds.
“The ‘Solo Meo’ category which recognises one-person businesses, is always huge and our ‘Most Outstanding Social Impact’ category, introduced last year, has been extremely popular”, says Heather. Judge Dave Rouse agrees a strong focus on sustainability comes through in several categories. "This year the Awards took a noticeable step up in ESG. I was delighted to see the element of Environmental & Social Governance being included as a foundation for business excellence, that businesses were proud of. That has created better brand alignment with their customers, resulting in improved financial outcomes - all while improving the world & community we live in."
