Strategic Planning Co. is a New Zealand-based construction consultancy with a mission to help the industry deliver projects smarter, faster, and better. We combine real project experience with digital tools to improve how construction work is planned, tracked, and delivered. Our focus is on clear communication, strong planning, and reliable data. We support teams across the full project lifecycle, from tender planning to execution and change management. Whether we’re preparing tender programmes, tracking weekly progress, identifying risks, or helping with delay and EOT claims, our job is to make sure project teams have the right information at the right time. One of our key innovations is iBOQ, the Interactive Bill of Quantities. iBOQ replaces traditional spreadsheets with a clear, web-based dashboard that connects quantities with 3D models, drawings, and timelines. It helps users visualise what’s being built, where, and when, making it easier to spot gaps, understand scope, and make better decisions. We’ve also developed 4D planning tools that bring the construction sequence to life through build simulations. To complement our technical work, we created Yarns with Andy, New Zealand’s first construction-focused podcast. Hosted by our Director Andy Alagappan, the podcast gives a voice to the people in the industry to talk openly about what’s really happening across the sector. It covers real issues like mental health, workforce challenges, contract pressures, and infrastructure planning. At Strategic Planning Co., we care about real results. Everything we do, whether it’s building tools, planning a job, or hosting a conversation, is designed to help project teams save time, avoid mistakes, and deliver with confidence.
Strategic Planning Co. is a small team trying to make a real difference in the construction industry. We work with contractors, consultants, and clients to make project planning clearer, more accurate, and easier to manage. We believe that good planning and communication are key to running successful projects, and we focus on doing those things well. We have also created Yarns with Andy, New Zealand’s first construction-focused podcast. It gives people in the industry a chance to talk about real issues that often get overlooked—like mental health, job pressure, lack of long-term planning, and how to improve the way the sector works. Guests include people on the tools, business owners, and decision-makers. The conversations are honest, practical, and easy to relate to. The podcast has already opened up important discussions. It has helped people feel heard, raised awareness about industry challenges, and even influenced thinking at the policy level. For example, after a discussion with Minister Chris Penk, the idea of a 10-year infrastructure plan for New Zealand is now being taken seriously. That is the kind of positive impact we are proud to support. We have not done this with a big budget or a full media team. We have done it by putting in the work, listening to what people care about, and creating something that feels real and useful. Everything we do—whether it is planning support or the podcast—is based on solving actual problems and supporting people in the industry. We are asking for your vote because we want to keep building on what we have started. Every vote helps more people discover the work we are doing, and it gives us a chance to keep growing our tools, our podcast, and the way we support the industry. If you work in construction, know someone who does, or just believe in small businesses trying to make things better, we would appreciate your support. We are not trying to be the biggest. We just want to be consistent, helpful, and keep doing good work that makes a difference. Thanks for backing us.
