Wishes (www.wishesbook.nz) offers a range of products to help individuals plan for the inevitable – death. Founded after the sudden death of my father-in-law, the products are a compassionate way to document end-of-life preferences. The Wishes Book aims to ease the burden on grieving families by providing clear guidance on funeral arrangements and personal wishes. This is a fill-in-the-blank guide covering topics from funeral preferences to cherished memories. Available in both physical and downloadable formats, it allows individuals to record their wishes in their own handwriting, serving as a heartfelt keepsake for loved ones. To encourage open conversations about death, the website also offers the Wishes End Game—a light-hearted card game designed to initiate discussions about “the end” and Wishes Business Edition for small business owners. The combination of these tools will help families navigate loss with clarity and peace of mind.
I created the Wishes Book to help make one of life’s hardest conversations just a little easier. It’s a guided book to help people record their end-of-life wishes — so their loved ones don’t have to guess, worry, or argue when the time comes to plan a funeral. The idea for Wishes was born after the sudden death of my father-in-law, when I saw first-hand how difficult it can be to make decisions while grieving without knowing a loved one’s wishes. From that experience came the Wishes Book — a guided, fill-in-the-blank journal designed to help individuals record their end-of-life preferences, from funeral arrangements to personal messages and cherished memories. Available in both printed and downloadable formats, it allows people to leave behind not just instructions, but a handwritten keepsake for those they love. To help start these important conversations, the Wishes End Game was then created — this light-hearted card game is designed to get people talking (and even laughing) about death with family and friends. Finally, Wishes Business Edition, was created to support small business owners in preparing for unexpected events. At its heart, Wishes is about easing the burden on grieving families and helping people face the end with dignity, openness, and peace of mind. Don't leave your loved ones with questions, leave them with Wishes.
