About My Business

Finding the right support as a new or expectant parent in New Zealand can be genuinely overwhelming. Hours spent searching across different websites, trawling Facebook groups, and asking for recommendations in all directions, often without finding exactly what you need. Hey Māmā was built to change that. Hey Māmā is a New Zealand parenting platform and business directory that connects Kiwi parents, parents-to-be, and whānau with the products, services, and resources that support every stage of family life. From preconception through pregnancy, postpartum, and into the early years, the platform brings everything together in one place. Looking for a lactation consultant near you? Culturally aligned antenatal classes? A sleep consultant, a doula, or a family photographer? With smart filters by location, parenting stage, and support type, Hey Māmā makes it easy to find what you actually need, without the guesswork or the overwhelm. Hey Māmā was founded by two Northland-based mums who between them bring over a decade of digital marketing expertise alongside first-hand knowledge of just how hard it can be to navigate parenthood in Aotearoa. After one too many late nights searching for answers across too many different tabs, they decided to build the resource they wished had existed when they needed it most. But Hey Māmā isn't only for parents. It's also a marketing and visibility platform for the small Kiwi businesses that serve this community. Many of these businesses are founded and run by parents themselves, offering deeply specialist, genuinely valuable services that too often go unnoticed. Through directory listings, social media content, email marketing campaigns, sponsored blog posts, and Meta advertising, Hey Māmā helps these businesses get in front of the right people at exactly the right moment in their parenting journey. Today, Hey Māmā reaches over 3,400 email subscribers, attracts more than 7,400 monthly website visitors, generates over 201,000 Instagram views each month, and has a growing social media community of more than 7,800 followers across Meta platforms. The platform is built on a simple belief: that parents deserve better access to support, and that the small businesses providing that support deserve to be seen. Hey Māmā exists to make both of those things easier, one family and one business at a time.

Why We Should Win The Peoples Choice Award

Hey Māmā is a labour of love. The kind that gets worked on after bedtime routines are done, between daycare pickups and nap times, by two people who know in their bones that navigating parenthood in Aotearoa should be easier than it is. We started Hey Māmā because we lived the problem. We knew what it felt like to search desperately for the right support at the wrong time of night. We knew how isolating early parenthood can be, and how much difference it makes when you finally find the right help. So we built the platform we wished had existed, and we made sure it would always be free for every parent who needs it. That decision matters to us. Hey Māmā has always been, and will always remain, free for parents to use. The businesses who advertise on the platform make that possible, and in doing so they become part of something bigger than a directory listing. They become part of a community that helps hold Kiwi families together. When you vote for Hey Māmā, you are voting for a platform that helps a first-time māmā in Whanganui find a postnatal support group she didn't know existed. You are voting for the small-town doula whose work is extraordinary but whose marketing budget is not. You are voting for the sleep-deprived parent in Southland who just needs to find a local sleep consultant without spending three hours on Google. You are also voting for a small business that punches well above its weight. A two-person operation that, in under two years, has built something that reaches tens of thousands of Kiwi parents every single month, connects families with local services they would otherwise struggle to find, and gives small Kiwi businesses a meaningful way to be seen by exactly the right people at exactly the right time. We are proud of what we have built and excited about what comes next – a postpartum email programme in development, regional email capabilities on the horizon, and an ever-growing directory of trusted businesses across Aotearoa. But none of it is possible without a community that believes, as we do, that parents deserve better access to the support that is out there waiting for them. If you have ever been a new parent searching desperately for answers. If you have ever run a small business and wished more people knew you existed. If you simply want to cast a vote for a Kiwi business doing something that actually matters – we would love your support.
