About My Business

Empowerment Psychology is an Auckland-based psychology clinic providing specialist assessment, therapy and wellbeing services for children, adolescents and adults. We support individuals and families both in-person and nationwide via telehealth, with a particular focus on ADHD, autism, AuDHD and educational assessments. Founded in 2022 by Clinical Psychologist Dr Missy Wolfman, Empowerment Psychology was created to address a growing need for accessible, high-quality psychological services delivered in a compassionate, evidence-based and neuroaffirming way. What began as a sole practitioner practice has grown into a multidisciplinary team of psychologists offering therapy, comprehensive assessments, clinical supervision, workplace wellbeing programmes, community workshops and professional education. Many of our clients come to us after years of feeling misunderstood or facing long wait times for specialist support. Our approach goes beyond diagnosis. We aim to help people understand their strengths, make sense of their experiences, and access practical strategies and supports that improve their quality of life. Accessibility is central to how we operate. We offer appointments Monday to Saturday, including evening telehealth sessions, enabling people across New Zealand to access specialist psychological services around work, school and family commitments. Our diverse team also provides appointments in several languages, helping reduce barriers to care for culturally diverse communities. During the 2025–2026 financial year, Empowerment Psychology delivered approximately 1,260 client appointments and completed around 70 ADHD, autism and AuDHD assessments. Alongside clinical services, we are committed to improving mental health literacy through workplace training, community workshops, public speaking and professional education for other clinicians. Our growth has been driven primarily through word of mouth and referrals from clients, GPs, paediatricians, psychiatrists and other healthcare professionals. This reflects the trust we have built within our community and our commitment to delivering high-quality, client-centred care. At Empowerment Psychology, we believe psychological services should do more than address challenges. They should empower people with greater understanding, confidence and practical tools to thrive. That philosophy continues to guide everything we do as we work towards improving access to specialist psychological support for communities across New Zealand.

Why We Should Win The Peoples Choice Award

If Empowerment Psychology has made a positive difference to you, your family, or someone you know, we would be honoured to have your vote. We know that reaching out for psychological support can feel overwhelming. Many of the people who come to us have spent years feeling misunderstood, waiting for answers, or wondering why life seems harder than it should. Our goal has always been to create a place where people feel genuinely heard, respected and empowered. Over the past three years, we have had the privilege of supporting children, adults and families through assessments, therapy and education. We've also worked with workplaces, schools and community organisations to improve mental health literacy and create more understanding of neurodiversity. Every referral, every workshop, every assessment and every conversation is an opportunity to make a meaningful difference in someone's life. Seeing clients leave with greater self-understanding, confidence and hope is what motivates our team every day. As a small New Zealand business, our growth has been built almost entirely through trust and word of mouth. We are incredibly grateful to every client, healthcare professional and community member who has recommended our services or shared their experience with others. Winning the People's Choice Award would be a wonderful recognition of the relationships we have built with our community. More importantly, it would help raise awareness of the importance of accessible, evidence-based psychological services and neurodiversity-affirming care. Thank you for your support, your encouragement, and for being part of our journey. Every vote means a great deal to our team, and we are grateful for the opportunity to continue serving our community.
