Double Undies® is a New Zealand business on a mission to help women move with confidence. We design premium absorbent underwear that helps women manage light bladder leaks, periods and sweat during everyday life and exercise, without compromising comfort, performance or style. The idea for Double Undies came from a deeply personal experience. As a mum and CrossFit athlete, I found myself leaking urine whenever I skipped or lifted heavy weights. Like so many women, I felt embarrassed and ashamed, and questioned whether I should keep doing the sport I loved. The reality is, up to 80% of women participating in high-impact sport experience some form of pelvic floor dysfunction, yet very few talk about it. It's still a taboo subject, leaving many women feeling isolated or giving up the activities they enjoy. When I looked for a solution, I discovered there wasn't one designed specifically for active women. Existing products were often bulky, visible under activewear or prone to shifting during movement. And for women who preferred wearing a thong, there simply wasn't a product that could deliver the absorbency and coverage required. Rather than accepting that gap in the market, I decided to solve it. Re-engineering a thong to perform like absorbent underwear was a significant design challenge. Its minimal shape left little room for the protection women actually needed, requiring me to completely rethink how absorbency could work within a thong. After years of research, prototyping and testing, I developed a world-first patented absorbent thong featuring our unique winged gusset design, providing protection where it's needed most while maintaining the comfort and appearance of premium everyday underwear. Today, Double Undies is about much more than the product itself. We're helping normalise conversations around bladder leaks, educating women that leaking isn't something they simply have to accept, and encouraging them to seek help from a pelvic health physiotherapist because, in many cases, it can be improved or even resolved. Since launching, Double Undies has grown from a founder-led startup into an internationally expanding brand. Our products are worn by everyone from postpartum mums to elite athletes. We've partnered with the Wellington Phoenix Women's A-League team and Canterbury Rugby, and are expanding into Australia, South Africa and Europe. The feedback we receive is the reason we do what we do. Women regularly tell us our products have "changed their lives", giving them the confidence to exercise, compete, laugh, jump, run and simply live without the constant fear of leaking. We believe women should never have to stop doing what they love because they're worried about what their body might do.

Not because of huge marketing budgets or a big team, but because thousands of women have shared their stories, trusted our products and believed in what we're building. Every order, every review and every conversation has helped shape Double Undies into what it is today. If you've worn our products, shared our story, stopped by our stand at an event, recommended us to a friend or simply followed our journey, you've already been part of it. Those conversations stop me in my tracks every single time. What I'm most proud of isn't just the product we've created, it's the community around it. We've created a space where women feel comfortable talking about something that has been surrounded by embarrassment for far too long. They're sharing their stories, supporting one another and helping other women realise they're not alone. Winning the People's Choice Award would be incredibly special because it wouldn't be decided by a judging panel, it would come from the people who have believed in Double Undies, supported our mission and helped us grow from day one.
