About My Business
Wolf Coffee Roasters started with a simple idea: coffee is better when the people behind it aren't hidden. Ten years on, that idea now spans a roastery, a café, a wholesale supply business and an online store, all run out of Arrowtown by a team of thirteen. We roast everything ourselves, in small batches, and taste every batch before it goes anywhere near a customer. That discipline shapes everything else we do. In the café, it means baristas who can tell you which farm your flat white came from. In wholesale, it means supplying cafés and restaurants across the region with coffee that's consistent enough to build a menu around, and support that goes beyond dropping off bags of beans. Online, it means the same beans reach kitchen benches nationwide, roasted to order rather than sitting in a warehouse. Arrowtown is a small town, but it's taught us plenty about what a coffee business should be. People here know each other. They notice when something's good, and they say so. That kind of feedback loop keeps a business honest in a way a bigger market sometimes doesn't. It's also why so much of our growth has come from word of mouth rather than marketing spend. Ten years is long enough to have made mistakes and short enough to still remember them clearly. We've adjusted roast profiles that weren't working, changed suppliers when relationships stopped being fair on both sides, and rebuilt parts of the business around what our wholesale partners actually needed rather than what we assumed they wanted. What hasn't changed is the belief that good coffee is a craft worth taking seriously, and that taking it seriously doesn't mean taking ourselves too seriously. We want people walking into the café, opening a bag at home, or serving our coffee behind their own counter to feel like they're in on something real, not sold to. If you've had a coffee from us, in Arrowtown, through wholesale, or delivered to your door, you've been part of that story. We'd love your vote to help tell more people about it.
Why We Should Win The Peoples Choice Award
Ten years ago, Wolf Coffee Roasters was a handful of people and a small roaster in Arrowtown, betting that a town of a few thousand people could support serious specialty coffee. A decade later, we're still here, we've grown to a team of thirteen, and we roast, brew, wholesale and ship coffee that reaches well beyond Central Otago. We're asking for your vote because this has never been a one-person story. It's been built by baristas who've stayed long enough to become the reason regulars come back, roasters who've spent early mornings dialling in a batch until it's right, and wholesale partners across the region who've trusted us to be part of their own menus. It's been built by an Arrowtown community that showed up in year one when we were unproven, and kept showing up. Every cup we serve, every bag we roast, and every wholesale order we pack carries the same standard: taste it before it leaves, stand behind it once it does. That's not a slogan, it's how a small team in a small town keeps a coffee business honest for ten years. We don't have the marketing budget of the bigger players. What we have is a genuine relationship with the people who drink our coffee, whether that's someone walking into the café on Buckingham Street, a chef building a menu around our beans, or someone opening a bag we've posted to their door. A People's Choice vote for Wolf Coffee is a vote for a business that's stayed independent, stayed local, and stayed committed to doing coffee properly for a decade, rather than chasing the fastest way to grow. It's a vote for the thirteen people who show up to roast, brew and pack coffee in Arrowtown every day, some of whom have been part of this story for years, and for the community that's backed us the whole way. We'd genuinely appreciate your support. If you've tasted what we make, at the café, through a wholesale partner, or delivered to your kitchen, you already know what this vote is for. If you haven't yet, there's no better excuse to find your nearest cup and see what a decade of doing this properly tastes like. Thank you for reading this far, and thank you in advance if you choose to vote for us.
