1. Our Commitment to Integrity
The David Awards’ relationship with entrants is built on professional respect and transparency. We collect only the information necessary to celebrate excellence and manage the programme with administrative agility and absolute integrity.
2. Information We Collect
Entry Data: Information submitted via our website, including business stories, logos, and project descriptions.
Multimedia: Video interviews, photographs, and digital recordings of entrants, finalists, winners, participants, and sponsors.
Sensitive Documents: Financial records, such as Profit and Loss (P&L) statements, provided specifically for judging verification.
3. Data Sovereignty & Security
We take a disciplined approach to data management:
New Zealand Sovereignty: All entry data is hosted on servers located within New Zealand.
Administrative Tools: We utilise professional services, including Google Workspace and Canva, for coordination. These services maintain rigorous security standards.
Access Control: Access to sensitive entry data is strictly limited. While our Board maintains oversight of the programme, direct access to full entries is restricted to authorised judges and administrators. P&L statements and confidential uploads are never shared externally.
4. Promotion, Media & Partnerships
To properly champion our finalists and winners, we facilitate broad visibility through various channels:
Programme Content: We use video interviews and digital content to showcase your success. We retain the right to use this multimedia content—including names, business details, and testimonials—on our platforms indefinitely to promote the programme and its participants.
Editorial Partnership: We partner with media to provide deeper coverage of the awards. We provide our media partners with read-only editorial access to the "stories" and project narratives within selected entries. This allows for writing and creation of professional features and promotional opportunities, but excludes all sensitive financial data or confidential documents.
Participation in video interviews or media recordings as part of the programme constitutes consent for The David Awards to use that material for the purposes outlined above, unless specific segments are identified as ‘off the record’ at the time of filming.
5. The Judging Process & Insights
Confidentiality: Individual scoring and raw judging deliberations remain private to ensure a fair and candid process.
Expert Insights: To add prestige to the awards, we may use judges’ comments and professional insights regarding why a business is successful within our promotional material and when announcing winners.
6. Data Retention & Timely Destruction
We believe in clean, respectful data management:
Sensitive Data: All P&L statements and supplementary confidential uploads are securely destroyed three months after the winners are announced. This destruction applies to our central systems and extends to all local copies held by judges or administrators for the purpose of evaluation.
Promotional Data: Content intended for public celebration (interviews, success stories, and logos) is retained as a lasting record of your achievement.
7. Your Rights
In accordance with the New Zealand Privacy Act 2020, you may request access to or correction of your personal information at any time.
