About My Business

Mursetter is a Christchurch-based business dedicated to helping grassroots sports clubs, community organisations, and not-for-profits become stronger, more sustainable, and better equipped for the future. Founded by Jo Moar, Mursetter was born from more than 15 years of hands-on experience working within community sport. Through that work, Jo identified a significant gap in the sector. Many volunteer-run organisations struggle to find the time, expertise, and resources needed to manage governance, administration, funding applications, financial processes, communications, and strategic planning. These tasks are essential to an organisation's success but are often carried out by already stretched volunteers. Mursetter provides practical, behind-the-scenes support that allows clubs and organisations to focus on delivering positive experiences for their members and communities. Services include funding and grants management, bookkeeping and financial administration, governance support, operational planning, committee administration, social media and communications, and general organisational support. What makes Mursetter unique is its deep understanding of the community sport environment. Rather than offering generic consulting services, Mursetter works alongside organisations as a trusted partner, providing affordable, flexible support tailored to the realities of volunteer-led clubs. Over the past five years, Mursetter has helped secure more than $800,000 in funding for Canterbury-based organisations, supported significant participation growth within local clubs, strengthened governance practices, improved financial management, and reduced the administrative burden placed on volunteers. The business operates with a simple philosophy: strong clubs create strong communities. Every grant secured, newsletter produced, policy developed, budget managed, or volunteer supported contributes to the long-term sustainability of organisations that play a vital role in bringing people together. Today, Mursetter supports a diverse range of sports clubs and community organisations across New Zealand. While the business continues to grow, its purpose remains unchanged: providing practical, reliable support that keeps clubs moving and helps community organisations thrive.

Why We Should Win The Peoples Choice Award

If you're considering voting for Mursetter, you're not just voting for a business—you're voting for the hundreds of volunteers who keep community sport alive. Behind every sports club, community organisation, and not-for-profit are people giving up their evenings, weekends, and spare time to create opportunities for others. They coach teams, organise events, manage finances, apply for funding, maintain facilities, and keep organisations running. Often, they do all of this while balancing jobs, families, and their own commitments. Mursetter was built to support those people. For more than 15 years, I have worked alongside volunteers in community sport and have seen first-hand both the incredible impact they make and the challenges they face. I started Mursetter because I wanted to use my skills to help clubs and organisations spend less time buried in paperwork and administration and more time focused on the people they serve. As a one-person business based in Christchurch, I work behind the scenes helping organisations with funding applications, governance, bookkeeping, communications, administration, and strategic planning. It is not always visible work, but it is work that helps clubs remain sustainable and continue delivering opportunities for their communities. The success of Mursetter is measured by the success of the organisations I support. Whether it is helping secure funding for a new facility, supporting a junior participation programme, improving governance processes, or simply making life easier for volunteers, every project contributes to stronger clubs and stronger communities. Like many small business owners, I have built Mursetter through hard work, determination, continuous learning, and a genuine passion for making a difference. There is no large team, no corporate backing, and no big marketing budget—just one person committed to helping community organisations succeed. If Mursetter's story resonates with you, I would be honoured to receive your vote. Your support would recognise not only the work I do, but also the importance of the volunteers, clubs, and community organisations that make New Zealand such a special place to live. Together, we can continue building stronger clubs, stronger communities, and more opportunities for people to participate, connect, and belong.
