About My Business

JFAB stands for Jemma’s Facepainting and Babysitting – a small, creative business based in Upper Hutt that brings colour, care, and joy to tamariki and their whānau. Founded by Jemma Woodhouse, JFAB offers professional face painting for parties, markets, and community events, as well as trusted in-home babysitting. Whether it’s transforming a child into a rainbow unicorn or providing calm, capable care for an evening, Jemma brings energy, experience, and heart to everything she does. Her face painting style is vibrant, fast, and adaptable – from superheroes and glittery princesses to animal faces and spooky designs. She uses high-quality, skin-safe products and has a gentle, engaging approach that helps even the shyest kids feel comfortable and proud of their look. In her babysitting role, Jemma provides safe, nurturing care with a focus on play, connection, and routine. With a strong background in youth work and early childhood environments, she understands the importance of building trust and creating a calm, child-led atmosphere. JFAB is also home to Jem the Bubbleologist, where giant bubbles, interactive shows, and wand-making workshops bring a unique kind of magic to events. At the heart of JFAB is a commitment to kindness, creativity, and community. Whether it’s for a big event or a quiet evening at home, Jemma is known for showing up with a smile, a paintbrush, and a whole lot of heart. Follow JFAB on social media to see her in action – and find out why local families say she’s “just fab.”

Why We Should Win The Peoples Choice Award

JFAB is more than just a small business. It is a dream brought to life through determination, creativity, and genuine care for people. Behind the name is just one person doing it all. I show up with my kit, my smile, and my commitment to bringing joy to tamariki and peace of mind to their whānau. I started this business to fill a gap I saw in my community. There were so many amazing families, hardworking parents, and beautiful kids needing a little extra magic and support. Whether that meant a trusted babysitter, a friendly face painter, or a memorable bubble show, I wanted to offer something that brought smiles and made life feel a little lighter. So, I put myself out there, offered my services, and slowly but surely, JFAB grew into what it is today. I have done this without a big budget, a storefront, or a marketing team. Every booking, every referral, every social media like and share has been earned through hard work and word of mouth. I have juggled multiple roles, stayed up late answering messages, hand painted signage, and reinvested everything I could back into improving what I offer. What makes JFAB special is that it is personal. Families know me by name. Kids recognise me at markets. I remember their favourite designs and how they like their glitter. I sit down with children at their level. I learn what calms them. I make sure every interaction is one they feel good about. For me, it is never about how fast I can finish a job. It is about the moment of magic, the connection, the sparkle in their eyes when they see themselves in the mirror. Being nominated for the People’s Choice category is a huge honour. It means everything to have the support of the people I have served and shared moments with. If you have ever seen a child walk away from my chair with a huge grin, if I have ever cared for your little ones when you needed time to breathe, or if my bubbles have made your whānau laugh at a festival or party, then I ask you to please vote for JFAB. Your vote tells a small local business that kindness, creativity, and showing up for your community still matters. It says that doing something with heart is worth celebrating. And it gives me the chance to keep growing, keep offering more, and keep putting joy into the world one brushstroke, one bubble, and one bedtime story at a time. Thank you for your support. It means more than you know.
