About My Business

Dew Drops is a Canterbury-based service providing practical and emotional support in the home for families through pregnancy, postpartum, parenting, and other challenging seasons of life. We exist because many families don't need more advice - they need help, at home, where it matters most. While there is significant focus on babies, there is often very little support for the person recovering from birth, managing a household, adjusting to a major life transition, or carrying the invisible mental load that can come with caring for others. Built from lived experience, Dew Drops was founded in 2022 after seeing how many parents were raising children without the village previous generations often relied upon. We recognised a growing gap between what families needed and the support available to them, and set out to create something different. Dew Drops was built from the ground up by a single founder, alongside raising a family without a village of our own while navigating grief, loss, and significant health challenges and hospital admissions for our son. Without external investment or support networks to fall back on, the business grew steadily through determination, community trust, and a belief that families deserve better support than simply being expected to cope. Those experiences reinforced the importance of practical, sustainable support through all the seasons of parenthood, and continued to shape how we show up for families today. We provide practical and emotional support in the home, tailored to each family's needs. This may include postpartum planning and nesting support, meal preparation, laundry, housework, organisation, childcare, newborn support, emotional peer support, and practical assistance that helps lighten the mental and physical load of daily life. Although postpartum care remains at the heart of what we do, our support extends far beyond the newborn stage. We regularly work alongside families experiencing burnout, grief, surgery recovery, mental health challenges, neurodivergent households, ADHD-related overwhelm, and other periods where day-to-day life has become difficult to manage alone. A key part of our approach is prevention. Rather than waiting until families reach breaking point, we provide support that helps reduce pressure before challenges escalate. Whether that means helping expectant parents prepare their home before birth, supporting recovery after a difficult season, or stepping in when life feels overwhelming, our goal is to provide meaningful support before crisis occurs. We believe household care can be mental health care. A stocked freezer, a reset kitchen, folded washing, a few uninterrupted hours of rest, or someone noticing what needs doing without adding to the mental load can make a significant difference to a family's wellbeing. The business is led by a Certified Matrescence Practitioner, Maternal Mental Health Peer Supporter, Breastfeeding Peer Counsellor, and Mental Health & Suicide Prevention Advocate, bringing together practical support with a deeper understanding of the emotional and psychological transitions that often accompany pregnancy, postpartum, and parenthood. Our team brings together experience in doula care, life coaching, early childhood education, maternal mental health peer support, and community support. All team members are carefully selected, fully vetted, insured, and receive training in matrescence, trauma awareness, maternal mental health, and safe support practices. Since launching, Dew Drops has supported hundreds of families across Canterbury. Our mission is simple: to help rebuild village-style support in a modern world and create safer, more supported experiences of parenthood and family life. Because support shouldn't be a last resort. It should be part of the village.

Why We Should Win The Peoples Choice Award

If Dew Drops has taught us anything over the last four years, it's that support matters far more than we're often taught. Not just during pregnancy or postpartum. Not just when life becomes overwhelming. Not just when someone reaches breaking point. Support matters every day. Since launching in 2022, we've had the privilege of supporting hundreds of families across Canterbury. We've folded washing, prepared meals, cared for children, helped people through grief, burnout, recovery, and major life transitions. But if we're honest, the most meaningful part of the journey hasn't been the tasks we've completed. It's been the conversations. The parent who told us they finally felt able to take a breath. The partner who felt less alone carrying the load. The family who realised they didn't have to do everything themselves. The person who said, "I wish this existed when I needed it." And perhaps most commonly: "This has changed how I show up for the people around me." That last one means a lot. Because while Dew Drops is a business, the bigger goal has never been to simply provide a service. It has been to help rebuild a culture where support is normal, practical, and freely offered. A culture where people feel comfortable asking for help, receiving help, and providing help within their own capacity. Over the years, we've watched conversations shift. We've seen people move from believing they should cope alone to recognising that support is not a weakness. We've watched clients become advocates, friends become better support people, and communities begin to think differently about what caring for one another can look like. If you choose to vote for Dew Drops, you're not only supporting a small Canterbury business. You're supporting the idea that practical support matters. That household wellbeing matters. That parents, partners, caregivers, and families deserve support before they are overwhelmed. And that sometimes the most powerful thing we can do for one another is not offer more advice, but offer a helping hand. Whether you've used our service, followed our journey, shared our message, or simply believe the world could do with a little more practical support and a little less pressure to do it all alone, thank you. By voting for Dew Drops, you're supporting more than a business. You're supporting a different conversation around family wellbeing, support, and community. One that recognises nobody is meant to carry everything alone and that practical help can make a profound difference in people's lives. Most importantly, you're helping us make the bigger shift our parents, our children, and future generations need and deserve: a world where asking for help carries less shame, offering support feels more natural, and nobody feels they have to do it all alone. Because support should never be a luxury. Its an essential.
