About My Business

Kia ora, I’m Brad Lepper, owner of Blunt Edition Salon in Auckland. I’ve been a hairdresser for 25 years and an educator for over 15, teaching stylists throughout Aotearoa and in places like Mumbai, Berlin, and Los Angeles. I carry Ngāi Tahu whakapapa, and that connection to culture and community is woven through everything I do—with honesty, respect, and a people-first approach. Blunt Edition is a co-working salon space where independent stylists rent chairs and build their own businesses in a creative, welcoming environment. I love to support the artists renting a chair from me because it helps them build their business—which in turn supports and lifts the industry. It’s all about creating space for people to thrive, while staying true to their own voice and style. I’m also an ambassador for brands like Sebastian Professional and Wella, and I’ve led training and creative sessions around New Zealand and overseas. Education keeps me connected and inspired, and it’s a way I can give back to the next wave of stylists coming through. Blunt Edition is about growth—creative, personal, and professional. I’m proud to be part of the Karangahape Road community, and to contribute to Auckland’s small business scene in a way that feels grounded and lasting.

Why We Should Win The Peoples Choice Award

This business was never about me. It's always been about the stylists—about giving them a place to grow, get confident, and own their craft. I've been around the industry long enough to know it needs more spaces that build people up, not just crank out haircuts. That’s why Blunt Edition exists. I run it solo by design. After owning a bigger salon with a full team, I wanted to do things differently—strip it back, make it intentional. Now I get to spend time mentoring other artists, helping them build their brands, and showing them what's possible when you back yourself. That’s what keeps me going. I’ve also kept a foot in education—teaching, travelling, working with global brands, and giving back to students wherever I can. The goal’s always been the same: grow the industry by growing the people in it. Blunt Edition is low-key, but it makes a difference.
