About My Business
The Teacher’s Connections was founded by two teachers and mothers who saw a growing need for high-quality, trustworthy support for families across New Zealand. What began as a small idea during maternity leave has quickly grown into a nationwide network connecting families with qualified teachers for tutoring, babysitting, and enrichment support. Our point of difference is simple: every tutor and babysitter we work with is either a qualified or practising teacher. As parents ourselves, we understood how difficult it can be to find someone you genuinely trust with your child, particularly someone who can support both wellbeing and learning. We wanted to create the kind of service we would want for our own families. Today, The Teacher’s Connections works with more than 200 teachers across Aotearoa and supports families in Auckland, Wellington, Christchurch, Tauranga, Hamilton, Queenstown, Waiheke, and beyond. Our services range from NCEA tutoring and literacy support through to after-school care, exam preparation, and in-home babysitting. The business has grown almost entirely through word of mouth, parent referrals, and teacher recommendations. We are proud to have built a strong reputation for personalised matching, genuine care, and high standards. Many of our tutors are current classroom teachers, curriculum leaders, or NZQA markers, allowing us to provide highly tailored support for students of all ages and abilities. Alongside supporting children and families, we are passionate about creating flexible, meaningful work opportunities for teachers. Many educators are looking for ways to supplement their income while continuing to use their skills in a rewarding and sustainable way. We are proud to provide opportunities that value teachers’ expertise while helping families access trusted support. At its heart, The Teacher’s Connections is about people, trust, and community. We believe children thrive when they feel safe, understood, and supported, and we are proud to play a small part in helping families across New Zealand feel more connected and supported every day.
Why We Should Win The Peoples Choice Award
The Teacher’s Connections began with a simple idea: families deserve support from people they can genuinely trust. As teachers and mothers ourselves, we know how important it is for children to feel safe, encouraged, and understood. We also know how hard it can be for parents to find the right support, whether that is a tutor who can build a child’s confidence, or a babysitter they feel comfortable welcoming into their home. What started as a small idea during maternity leave has now grown into a nationwide network of more than 200 qualified and practising teachers supporting families across Aotearoa through tutoring, babysitting, literacy support, NCEA preparation, and educational mentoring. The reason we believe people connect so strongly with our business is because it has always been built around real relationships and genuine care. We are not a large corporate company or an anonymous platform. Behind every enquiry, booking, and family match are two teachers who truly care about finding the right fit for both children and educators. Over the past two years, we have been incredibly lucky to receive support from parents, teachers, schools, and communities across New Zealand. Most of our growth has happened purely through word of mouth, recommendations, and repeat families sharing us with others. Every referral, review, and message of encouragement has helped us grow into the business we are today. Voting for The Teacher’s Connections is also a way of supporting teachers. We are passionate about creating flexible and meaningful opportunities for educators, many of whom are balancing teaching alongside raising families themselves. Our business allows teachers to continue using their skills in ways that directly impact children’s confidence, wellbeing, and learning. We are especially proud of the difference our team has made for children who need extra encouragement, whether that is helping a nervous reader gain confidence, supporting students through NCEA, mentoring neurodiverse learners, or helping young people access opportunities they may never have believed were possible. At its heart, The Teacher’s Connections is about community. It is about supporting children, valuing educators, and helping families feel less alone in the challenges of modern parenting and education. If our story resonates with you, we would be incredibly grateful for your vote. Every bit of support means the world to our small business and the amazing teachers who make it possible every day.
