Using advanced behavioural algorithms, HorseSafe tracks activity levels, eating behaviour, lying time, rolling, GPS location, geofence events and long-term behavioural trends. When unusual behaviour is detected, such as excessive rolling that may indicate colic, prolonged lying, escape from a paddock, or abnormal activity levels, the system immediately notifies owners through the HorseSafe app. Beyond immediate alerts, HorseSafe builds an individual behavioural profile for every horse. By understanding what is normal for each animal, the platform can identify subtle changes over time that may indicate developing health or welfare issues before they become obvious. This provides valuable information for owners, veterinarians and breeding operations and supports better long-term management decisions. HorseSafe has been designed and developed in New Zealand and is now being used or evaluated in New Zealand, Australia, the United States and the United Kingdom, with growing international interest.
